Vintage Sterling Silver Pendant With Orange Abalone Stone - Oval 0.625"x0.875"

Small, vintage, sterling silver and abalone, oval shaped pendant. Features an orange abalone stone in the center. Sterling mark on the back. Vintage at least Mid-Century Modern, it could be as old as Victorian. 0.625"x0.875". Thats 5/8 of an inch by 7/8 of an inch. Good condition. The silver looks great and polished easily. The stone is probably damaged, it doesn't look quite right to me. I'm not a gemologists so I'm not sure how abalone wears down but I worked at a jeweler for a few years and the shape of the stone is unusual which leads me to believe it was either a raw, uncut stone when it was set, or it's been worn down over time. A goldsmith can replace the stone if you wanted, that's a very common repair for jewelry this age.
