This amazing unisex owl bolo was crafted by Zuni artist Theodore Teddy Edaakie. Both Lee and Theodore worked for Trader C.G. Wallace in Zuni, New Mexico between the 1930's into the 1940's. Theodore became a master of inlay work and passed on his knowledge to many members of his family. The Edaakie family continues to craft beautiful Zuni jewelry.
Set with beautiful materials of turquoise, jet, Mother of Pearl, pin shell, coral, and cowry shell. This owl offers the best of Theodore's channel inlay work. Very nice hand-crafted silver cone beads add the final touch to the amazing necklace. The owl measures 3 7/8" tall by 2 7/8" wide. The smaller owl tips measure 7/8" wide by 3/4" tall. The total length is 38", including the 2 7/8" tips. Not hallmarked, which was common with many of the early era artists.
Condition: Very nice vintage condition! Much of the original patina has been left to retain the value of the piece. Black leather polish has been added to the woven cord.
