The Stangl Pottery Company began as Hill Pottery in 1814, producing pipes, jars, and crocks from red clay. When Fulper acquired Hill Pottery decades later, in addition to low-kiln earthenware, he added stoneware.
Stangls Birds of America series was produced from 1940 1972. While they were mass produced figures they were all hand painted, mostly by local women. many of these are signed by the painter with their initials on the back or bottom.
This piece is a classic, the ##3447 Yellow Kentucky Warbler. It is signed MV on the bottom, and is in like new condition.
