I have not submersed it in water I would only suggest cleaning it with maybe a baby wipe. Submersion in water would probably make the backing come off of the rhinestones. This can happen with any rhinestones that could happen. then the stone becomes dark and cloudy. If you ever see rhinestones like that then they have been exposed to water.
