Set of two vintage floral still life scagliolas on black marble cut into oval shaped wall art. Measures 14" x 11" x 1" Features vibrant flowers made of plaster cut into the solid black marble background. Gilded gold frames add elegance. Artist Emilio Martelli Florence, Italy signed on back of each piece. Mid-century era. Good condition overall minus a few knicks and small repair made to to original frames. Beautiful original Italian history from a well known deceased Italian artist. Martellis is known for his scagliola technique, most famously for creating marble tables. His pieces have been to auction a minimum of 17 times. A black marble side table, very similar to these for sale, sold at Auction by Christies for close to $10,000!
