🔷From research, appears to be sun surf eagle aloha shirt. Rare
🔷ProbableHistory:
Japanese souvenir often referred to as a kabuki, Yokosuka or alohax style shirt
🔹Pattern&Imagery
•shirt features large eagle over turbulent ocean waves & Mount Fuji a common motifs in midcentury Japanese art
•style influenced by ukiyo-e (woodblock prints) & tattoo (irezumi) aesthetics, popular in Japanese souvenir textiles after WWII
🔹Fabric&Construction
•rayon-like sheen & shortsleeves typical of 50s–60s Japanese souvenir shirts(sukajan or aloha shirt hybrids)
•large central print across the front & back, not an all-over repeat also points to that mid-century souvenir style, rather than later 80s/90s Hawaiian shirts which tended toward smaller repeat prints
🔹DecadeEst.
Based on imagery, fabric, &camp collar,Most likely 50s early 60s when Japanese-made souvenir & aloha shirts were popular among US servicemen and travelers in the Pacific
🔹CulturalBackground
These were often hand-printed or screen-printed in Japan and sold near U.S. military bases or in port cities like Yokosuka&Tokyo after WWII. The eagle-over-Fuji design meant to appeal to Americans as a blend of Japanese artistry & familiar patriotic symbols.
IMPERFECTIONS:
Several small holes all throughout
A few small stains that could potentially wash out but I was not going to risk it due to the delicacy of the fabric
It is missing the brand & care tag it may have had @some point but appears to be 100% silk
