Vintage Prescription Labels, Set of 10
Unused pharmacy labels from my family's pharmacy, which operated in Southern California during the late 1970s through the mid 1980s. These authentic vintage labels are in good condition and make wonderful ephemera for junk journals, scrapbooking, or mixed media projects.
Each label has a sticker back, though the adhesive may have softened with age.
I have included a photo of our pharmacy in the listing so you can enjoy a glimpse of a time when small businesses were woven into the fabric of the neighborhood. These labels carry that history with them and offer a tangible piece of everyday life from a bygone era.
Set includes 10 labels.
A Personal Memory
Our pharmacy was one of the last family owned stores in the area. We sold sundries, gifts, greeting cards, stuffed animals, stationery, 25¢ candy bars & cigarettes for 50¢ a pack. My mom used cigarettes as her loss leader. Being close to the now closed El Toro Marine Base, we welcomed many military families.
We carried 14K gold jewelry when floating hearts, charm holders & S chains were all the rage. Picture frames were briefly part of our shelves until the frame shop two doors down pushed us out. Trends came & went including spirulina diet pills, Rubik's cubes & Gatorade gum.
My childhood revolved around that store. These labels carry a piece of that story, a small but meaningful glimpse into a time when pharmacies were personal, playful & full of heart.
