Russell Green River Works Fixed-Blade Knife
Russell & Co. | Greenfield, MA | Circa 1932–1950s | Utility Knife
This vintage fixed-blade knife features a 6-inch steel blade stamped “Russell Green River Works,” a mark used by J. Russell & Co. of Greenfield, Massachusetts. Known for their durable frontier and butcher knives, Russell blades were widely used throughout the 19th and 20th centuries.
The handle is made of light-finished wood, secured with two flush rivets, and bears a partial stamp reading “HTZ & Co”—likely a distributor or retailer mark. The tang extends approximately ¾ into the handle.
The knife is in good vintage condition, with visible age-related wear and a clean blade edge. It was recovered from a family estate and likely dates to the mid-century.
