Ridgway “Oriental" pattern plate, a blue and white transferware piece from the late Victorian era
Manufacturer: William Ridgway, likely made in Shelton, Stoke-upon-Trent, England.
Pattern: "Oriental," featuring alternating reserves of exotic Middle Eastern scenery and floral bouquets
Collectibility: Sought after by collectors of antique transferware
This attractive blue and white plate is English semi-porcelain. It is transfer-ware from the late 18th or early 19th century, marked "Oriental" with the urn and bowl.
The color is a light blue with medium blue accents and gold trim around the edges of the plate. In the center is a fantasy scene with a pagoda, palm trees, and Asian people in the foreground. Cartouches decorate the perimeter. They are partly floral and partly scenic. This plate is in beautiful vintage condition with no chips
