Striking red velvet jacket made of a heavier cotton velvet than the commonly seen synthetic and velvet blends. Fully lined, and includes a couple extra buttons. Has a pocket on each front side and notched lapels. A blazer jacket, such as this one, can have a casual or formal look, depending on how you style it; wear it with jeans, and it'll look casual. But wear it with color-coordinated pants or a skirt, and it will look formal. This particular jacket most likely dates to the 1970s based in several factors. Velvet was trending & still made of cotton. The 1970s marked a pivotal time for women in the workplace, and the power suit—complete with bold blazers & bright colors including red—became a statement of authority. Workplace power dressing continued into the 80s. The 70s decade also included a resurgence and exaggeration of classic styles, including pronounced collars. “Made in Hong Kong” tags were primarily used on clothing in the 1960s through the 80s.
This is an extremely well-cared-for vintage garment in great condition. Because it is vintage, please check measurements given.
