Vintage (Rare) 40’s 50’s Dolores Gonzales South West Style Patio Dress

This rare late 1940s to early 1950s black cotton “patio dress” set is a joyful example of vintage Southwestern style. The designer Dolores Gonzales was a pioneer of this unique style. It features a circular skirt with lace under pieces, gold and red rickrack and stylized ribbon. The armholes have been cut presumably to accommodate a normal size upper arm otherwise it was only a 4” diameter opening (see picture). The skirt has a 26” waist with hook and eye closures so it would be easy to alter. *Southwestern-inspired cotton design with folk charm *True circle skirt with full movement, ideal for dancing This garment has not been dry cleaned it is vintage over 75 years old and was probably well loved, it still is in good condition except for the armhole cuts.
