USPS Label 106-A (10/97) was a roll of self-adhesive Priority Mail packing tape featuring the "Eagle Logo"
"Label 106-A" was a 1997 USPS Priority Mail tape designed to mark packages, but it was officially discontinued due to abuse and is no longer provided by the USPS.
Additionally, it was a fad in the early 2000’s to use this specific tape on hockey uniforms. Hockey players in the early 2000s used USPS Priority Mail tape on their uniforms, particularly their socks, because the tape and boxes were freely available from the post office.
This practice was especially popular among players looking for free or low-cost alternatives to expensive hockey tape. The tape was used to keep socks up and shin pads in place, a common use for standard athletic and hockey tape. The practice occurred in both ice hockey and roller hockey, with many players sharing nostalgic memories of it in online forums.
This misuse of the tape is partially what led to it being discontinued and what makes it a wonderful piece of memorabilia!
