An original Royal Canadian Air Force 1950 Pattern Modified Parka Coat which is in good condition.
At the end of the 1940s the Canadian military started to produce its own new range of uniform for its military with a focus on cold weather clothing. This pattern was one of the first to be produced and trialed and is made in a green coloured nylon material. It can be fitted with a hood using the zip around the neck and also has a detachable liner (not included). The front of the jacket fastens with a high quality Canadian made 'Lightning' branded zipper which is covered by a button fly. All of the buttons are large plastic examples which are held in place with nylon tapes - A design feature later copied by other NATO countries. Expanding chest and lower pockets are located to the front and there is a pen pocket to the upper portion of the left sleeve. Reinforcement patches are located to each elbow and the cuff is a barrel style which fastens with a single button. There is also a rank tab to the front and back. The rear is fitted with a Warrant Officer's rank slide.
Inside the jacket there is a drawstring to the waist.
