This casserole dish is from the "Terra" pattern, known for its textured finish of matte black with grooved brown rings designed to mimic hand-thrown earthenware. The unique finish was achieved using a machine "scratch" technique where a secondary color was applied over a base color and then removed in bands. Designer and History: The Terra pattern was designed by William Curtis, who received an award for his concept. It was first manufactured by Pyrex in 1964-1965 and was the first pattern released on both ovenware and tableware.
