Vintage Porcelain Brooch 18th Century

Era: Likely late Victorian to early 20th century (1880s–1920s). These portrait miniatures were very popular at that time. Materials: Porcelain (hand-painted with gilt and enamel highlights) set into a metal brooch frame (the felt/paper was often used to cushion the porcelain). Subject: Aristocratic lady, reminiscent of 18th-century fashion (Marie Antoinette–style hair). The use of gilt scrollwork (the gold accents) and turquoise enamel dots around the edges was common in French and Italian portrait miniatures on porcelain.
