Vintage Pendleton Wool Throw Blanket 62X76” Chief Seelatsee Yakima Eagle Vintage

Vintage 1970s Pendleton Woolen Mills Beaver State wool blanket featuring the Chief Eagle Seelatsee Yakima design. Large central eagle with outstretched wings holding 14 arrows (representing Yakama Nation bands). Vibrant tribal pattern in shades from golden yellow to brown, with reds and oranges in between. Multiple tones of blue including royal and teal plus deep purple add striking contrast. SIZE: Approx. 62.5" x 76" CONDITION: Colors are still vivid and wool is soft. Several worn spots on the wool on the reverse side, and only a couple tiny ones on the front, which are in the top orange section--none are complete holes that go all the way through. Please see photos for close-up examples of worn spots--I tried to get close-ups noticeable areas. No stains, fading, odors, or large damage. Minor wear consistent with age. All photos are of actual item. From the Pendleton archives: CHIEF EAGLE was the first blanket dedicated since the 1920's. It was in honor of the memory of Chief Seelatsee, Chief of the Yakama Nation. Chief Seelatsee is remembered for his involvement in programs for the education and concern of youth. These programs, some still in use today, gained great respect for him not only as a tribal leader, but on the national level in Washington D.C. as well. The 14 arrows that the eagle holds in the design signify the bands of the Yakama Nation, the largest in the Northwest.'
