Vintage Ornate Silver Heart Locket With Black Glass & Vintage Photos 800 Silver

This is a gorgeous vintage locket from an estate collection. The locket is fixed on the chain, shaped like a heart. It's 800 Silver, with an ornate details on the front and accented with a black glass teardrop or pear-shaped gemstone. Inside the locket are two vintage photos, a young man and a young woman. There is no glass or plastic protector, but the photos are in excellent condition, with very minor signs of wear or rubbing around the photo edges. Based on the hairstyles and clothing of the folks in the picture, I'd guess the photos are from the early 1940s. The chain is a figaro chain accented with diamond-shaped silver beads. It has a barrel-shaped screw clasp. There are no metal purity stamps or maker's marks that I can find, but I acid-tested the metal, and it shows as 800 silver (800 silver has a lower percentage of silver content than sterling silver. It was commonly used in jewelry in Europe in the 1800s and 1900s). The locket measures 0.9" by 0.8". The chain is 22" The necklace has been gently cleaned; it does have some signs of patina, but it's in otherwise very good condition. It will come in a gift box.
