Vintage No! Jeans Cardigan

No! Jeans burst onto fashion scene in the late 80's as a rejection of the designer jeans look popularized by Jordache and Calvin Klein. Acid washes and embellishments were the hallmark of that aesthetic. Complimenting their jeans, they also produced a popular line of oversized jackets and cardigans. This look was popularized by celebrities of the time like Salt n Pepa, Paula Abdul, and JLo when she choregraphed the intros and outros on the sketch comedy show, In Living Color. This is a super-rare authentic No! Jeans cardigan from the late 80's-early 90's era. The sweater itself is a ramie/cotton blend but the appliqués are nylon and the inside lining is 100% nylon. The motif is Street/African themed: on the front it says LE FANTASIE AFRIQUE and on the rear it says TRIBES STREET FANTASIES USA. On the sleeves, there is abstract embroidery and more nylon appliqués that align with the motif. It's designed as unisex and to be worn oversized. If your style is artsy and bold, this is a great statement piece for you! Condition is good. The front nylon buttons show a little wear and tear with some minor scratches and some of the white appliqués have gotten a bit discolored over decades. The nylon lining is completely intact and in very good condition. It's one size fits most. Hand wash, dry flat. Measurements are Chest: 50in, Arms: 30in, Length: 24in
