This is another find from a relative's trunk I'm slowly unpacking.
There are several different newspapers in this trunk, some over 100 years old.
This one is from 1932, covering the arrest of John Huges Curtis, a bankrupt shipbuilder from VA who convinced Charles Lindbergh that he was in contact with his son's kidnappers.
The paper's pages have yellowed with age, and the spine and folded area were especially fragile, requiring some tape so I could even lay it out flat for photos.
The rest of the pages are sturdy; it's just the folded areas, which all newspapers have, where the separation occurred.
The complete edition is here although I have not photographed every page (16 in total.)
It's fun to read the ads and to see stores no longer in existence in Portland, Oregon. Even this newspaper is long gone.
