This coin was minted between 1804 & 1814. These coins were part of Napoleon’s effort to stabilize & standardize French currency. After his defeat, many coins were melted down making them harder to find today. This piece is a collectible item back to the early 1800s. This coin is silver and encased in a gold tone metal. Due to its age and historical significance it is valuable to collectors. Originally a coin that was repurposed as a decorative scarf clip.
