Vintage Military Achievement Gold Medal

The medal shown in the image is the U.S. Army Achievement Medal. It is a military decoration of the United States Armed Forces, awarded for outstanding achievement or meritorious service. It is awarded to enlisted personnel and junior officers (usually below the rank of colonel) who do not meet the criteria for higher-ranking medals, such as the Commendation Medal. The octagonal shape of the medal was chosen to distinguish it from other Army decorations. The reverse of the medal bears the inscription "FOR MILITARY ACHIEVEMENT". Please take a look at the photos.
