Amazing midcentury print of artist Utagawa Hiroshige's "Mount Haruna Under Snow" woodblock ink and watercolor print. Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858) practiced in a Ukiyo-e collaborative print process that included the artist, the carver, printers and publishers. This allowed for a high grade of consistency and quality with multiple professional eyes 'weighing in' on the merit and salability of a particular piece.
Mount Haruna is a dormant volcano in Gunma (eastern Honshu, Japan). This print is from the series of "One Hundred Famous Views of Edo".
Size: Print- 15.5" x 10.5"
Frame- 16.5" x 12.75" x 0.75"
Condition: Very good vintage condition. Mild toning consistent with age. There is a small ripple on the left upper border that isn't quite a wrinkle and should relax with a remounting if desired. Total of six signatures and stamps. The colors are vibrant and have a silver shimmering quality, no fading. One tiny toning dot on one of the mountain spires. Please see all photos and video as they are part of the description. Frame is an inexpensive midcentury basic frame.
