Vintage Mexican Amate Bark Painting – Floral Hand-Painted FOLK ART w/ Burlap Mat

DIMENSIONS Painting: approximately 10.5" wide x 13" tall Burlap: 12" wide x 16" tall This Mexican folk art painting depicts a bouquet of flowers in a vase or planter, rendered in rich, vibrant colors on traditional amate bark paper. The edges of the bark paper are rough and unfinished, in keeping with its handmade nature. It comes with a loose orange burlap mat (not mounted or framed), which shows slight fraying at the edges—adding to the piece’s rustic charm. This unique and cheerful work celebrates a living tradition of Mexican craftsmanship and folk art, still practiced today by Nahua and Otomi artisans in regions such as Puebla and Guerrero. Likely created in the 1980s or 1990s, this piece was sourced secondhand in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
