Printed in Finland and imported by Design Research for the US market. Design Research was the first "lifestyle" store founded in 1953 mainly for home decor, but founder Ben Thompson added Marimekko textiles in 1958. Design Research closed in 1978. The tag in this dress dates it to 1960s-early 1970s. Empire waist, shoulder buttons and three quarter sleeves are characteristic on the period. This dress still has its belt! The hem is down in the back, easy repair for the new owner! This is a timeless Scandinavian modernist design, and represents an iconic period of fashion history.
