Vintage postcard collection featuring Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo California. These postcards are from the 1970s. They show photos of the hotel and many of the unique bedrooms. This hotel is famous for having each hotel room distinctively unique from each other. There are a total of 25 postcards in this collection.
Alex Madonna was a fan of Walt Disney and got the idea of making each room as specific theme. The hotel opened back in the 1960s and has not changed much since. The individually themed rooms remain pretty much the same as they were back in the beginning. The whole place has a 1960s style of grandeur that may appear gaudy to some people. But if you love retro style, this is the place to see!
Note: these postcards were my Grandmother’s as she and my grandfather often stayed there from the 1970s - 1990s. She loved this place. But there might be some writing on a few of them.
I recall how friendly Mr. Madonna was. As a kid, I once saw my dad sitting with a distinguished older man there back in the 1980s and did not know who he was. Later he told me that was Mr. Madonna! He wanted to know if we were enjoying our time there! It was apparently common for Mr. Madonna to talk with his guests!! He was such a kind person. 🥰
If you do not want all 25 postcards, I am willing to break up this bundle-
1 for $8
2 for $15
5 for $30
10 for $40
But I will randomly select the postcards. Let me know.
