Rare psychedelic Maxi Skirt “The Lilly”, made by Lilly Pulitzer Inc. produced in the 1960’s. Sold by Lord and Taylor, Fifth Avenue.
Lilly Pulitzer started her fashion line in Palm Beach Florida in the late 1950s. She originally ran a juice stand and her dresses were created to hide juice stains.
This psychedelic mod-print maxi skirt is characteristic of the era and the brands aesthetic. The print has bronze, yellow, green, pink, blue and white. It has a back metal zipper, and a metal eyelet closure. The front has simple bow on the waist and a long front pleat.
It’s clearly been worn. I have included pictures of some of the faded spots. The zipper and eyelet closure look good. Seams as well. It’s made out of a medium weight polyester, think curtains of the same era.
The waist is 36 inches and the length is 41.5 inches. It’s marked a size 16. It has been laundered by hand.
I love it! If it fit I would be keep her!
Pics 5-7 show the faded spots.
