Vintage Libbey Glass Amber Optic Swirl Water Pitcher & 4 10" Tall Tumbler Set
This is a gorgeous set of vintage glass from Libbey. Libbey was originally founded in 1818 as the New England Glass Company, in East Cambridge, Massachusetts. In 1878 William L. Libbey assumed control of the company. After William’s death in 1883, his son Edward D. Libbey became the owner and moved the factory to Toledo, Ohio, in 1888. The company became known as the Libbey Glass Company in 1892. The company made a large variety of wares ranging from pocket bottles and tumblers to attractive art glasses by techniques of molding, mechanical pressing, cutting, and engraving. Some of the finest examples of blown glass were produced by this factory. This set is no exception! Made in the optic swirl pattern in amber glass. The pitcher is 2 quart, handled with an ice guard. It is 9" tall and 7" at its widest. This is an iconic mid century water pitcher. The glasses are 12 oz. and have the Libbey Glass signature "L" engraved on the bottom. The set is in excellent pre-owned condition. No chips or cracks. I actually have two sets of these for a total of two pitchers and 8 glasses total. I have them listed separately but if you would like the whole set, please let me know.
