Vintage Large 14" Lebkuchen-Schmidt German Biscuit Tin, Treasure Chest Metal Box This vintage large 14" Lebkuchen - E. Otto Schmidt tin was produced in Germany to package the company's gingerbread biscuits. The hinged lid tin depicts a rendition of the Nuremburg city in the middle ages. The large tin has a silver toned metal finish on the inside with a reinforced structure bottom. The company officially began in 1926 but the tradition of Lebkuchen cookies given at Christmas can be traced back to Franciscan Monks in the 14th century. Width - 14” Depth - 9” Height - 5" This vintage tin is in very good pre-owned condition. There is some minimal age related wear to the finish. The lid and hinges are in working order.
