Vintage Late 1950s Mr Mort Faun Brown Silk Princess Seam Midi Dress with Buttons. Beautiful late 1950s early 60s semi formal dress. This brand was known for its accessable but very fashion forward designs. This dress is a great example of that. It's a great transitional piece between the decades. It has the super sharp and stylized princess seams of the 60s, as well as huge plastic decorative buttons and a tube belt embellishment. All classic 60s. But the sweet petter pan collar, belled skirt, and feminine 50s shapes. It's made from a lovely light brown slubbed dupioni silk. The skirt is heavily interfaced, everywhere except the back panel (for ease of movement). I've seen this a few times. It was a technique briefly used in the very late 50s/early 60s. It was an attempt to lighten the load of petticoats and help the dress hold shape. This is the widest skirt I've seen with it. It makes the skirt very stiff and sculptural. A good steam and you have a beautifully crisp skirt. The interfacing continues up into the bottom curve of the princess seam, doing some of the girdles work. cute polka dot tube belt, metal back zipper, metal hooks and eyes. cute little peter pan collar in cream pique. Great vintage condition. Raw edges inside as is common in period construction.
