Viaticum, or "last rites," sick call box.
Purpose: These wooden shadow boxes were used in the late 19th and early 20th centuries to hold necessary items for a priest administering the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick in a private home.
Scene: The interior features a three-dimensional figure depicting the Pieta (Mary cradling Jesus), accompanied by the text "Blessed Be Thy Holy Name".
** As you can see in pics it is missing a chain at the bottom when you open up the box and the latch will need replacing" See the wire that keeps it closed for reference ***
