Vintage Korean Wedding‎ Ducks | Wood Hand carved and Hand painted

This listing is for a pair of vintage hand carved Korean Wedding Ducks.. The ducks are carved from a soft wood, are 11 1/4" long, 6 1/4" high and 2 7/8" wide. They are painted bright colors of cobalt blue, orange, green, black, with highlights of yellow, light blue, white and other happy hues. ***There are a few marks, as shown in the photo. Please zoom in for a closer look. No chips or cracks are present.** Story summary: The man chosen to carve the wedding ducks must be a pure and honorable man and the possessor of all of the FIVE FORTUNES: he must be rich, healthy, no divorce, have a good wife and many sons (Confucian emphasis on family strength and continuity). The duck is carried to the new home of the bridal couple and is displayed where they can easily see it. If the couple quarrels, one will point to the duck which reminds them of the peaceful wedding and they will stop fighting. The wedding duck symbolizes three things: peace, many children and no separations.
