Vintage early 1990's Katha Diddel 100% wool, hand made needlepoint pillow cover featuring the historic launch of The U.S. Mail Steamship Company's first paddle steamship, the SS Falcon, from downtown New York City on December 1, 1848. With a Village Hall / Post Office proudly flying the American flag, the loading dock is stacked with bundles of mail ready to be loaded onto the awaiting steamboat, also proudly flying the American flag. Floral border and banner reading "Situation of America, 1848." across the bottom. Measures approx. 15" x 19" with braided trim all around and loops at the corners. Solid color velveteen back with zipper closure. Excellent, beautiful clean condition with no stains or any other flaws. Zipper opens and closes perfectly.
