A vibrant set of four vintage Japanese Imari porcelain plates, each measuring 6.5" in diameter and 0.75" high. These finely detailed plates feature classic Imari colorwork — deep cobalt blue, iron red, and touches of gold — depicting florals, phoenixes, and scenic motifs. The “JAPAN” mark on the underside dates them to the post-World War II export period, circa 1950s–1960s, when Japan revived traditional porcelain artistry for Western collectors.
The Imari style originated in 17th-century Arita, Japan, named for the port from which it was shipped to Europe. These pieces reflect that enduring aesthetic — richly layered patterns, bold symmetry, and gilt highlights that convey timeless elegance. Ideal for display in Asian-inspired, eclectic, or maximalist décor settings.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. Bright glaze. Very minor wear of the gilt rims.
