Vintage Japanese Celluloid Floral Basket Brooch, 1950's. 2.25" X 1.5" 3-D look with mums, flowers and green leaves with a basket and handle - the overall color is ivory. Celluloid jewelry became popular in 1900 and was made in the U.S. In the 1950's it then became more common for pieces to be made in Japan. This piece is marked Japan on the back. The pinback is built into the celluloid. C clasp. Celluloid is a fragile material so these pieces are more rare with each passing year.
