Vintage Italian St. Francis Hand Painted Wood Embossed Trinket Box

I felt attracted to this little box. The aesthetic and the embossed design are a reflection of a great taste. It was made in Italy to honor St. Francis. There is a signature on the back side . Please see all my photos. St. Francis is associated with patronage of animals and the environment. It became customary for churches to hold ceremonies blessing animals on his feast day of the fourth of October. He is known for devotion to the Eucharist.[13] Along with Catherine of Siena, he was designated patron saint of Italy. He is also the namesake of the American city of San Francisco. The box is in great vintage condition, there is a little bit of wear on the left upper corner of the St. Francis's photo, but this adds to the character of this trinket box.
