Vintage Iron Candle/ Pot Holder

It's a recycle project from old lamp parts. A friend said it could be a ashtray or a candy dish. Base is a 4 1/2in square of marble that was painted over. It's a little over 14in tall. Top bowl has 5in diameter with 1in sloping to center depth. The flowers and leaves are metal. All is screwed together on a hollow rod with 2 holes for drainage in bowl. All painted brown but some if the old gold and rust push through.
