Vintage Huishan Framed Male and Female w. Dragon dimensions: 12.5" x 1.5" x 8.5" This is an interesting piece - a male and female pair of Huishan figures framed. I believe that the figures each have a dragon. The history of these clay figures are quite interesting - I found this while doing at internet search: Huishan clay figurine is a traditional Chinese folk art in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, China, with a history of more than 400 years. In 2006, Huishan clay figurine was added to the first batch of National intangible cultural heritage lists with the approval of the State Council of the People's Republic of China. The Huishan clay figurines are clay figures with concise and full shape, smooth and lively lines, bright and eye-catching colors and ingenious and meticulous ideas. The raw material of Huishan clay figurines is black mud, which is taken from the foothills about 1 meter below the ground on the northeast slope of Huishan Mountain.
