Absolutely spectacular MCM Vintage Hilo Steiner Handmade Shrewsbury N.J. Empire String scalloped Lamp Shade Height 15” Width Top 8” Width Bottom 18” This exceptional lamp shade wa hand crafted approximately 40 years ago by Hilo Steiner in her Studio in Shrewsbury N.J. . On August 4, 1952, Mrs. Steiner - a 25 yr old wife and mother (who was born and raised in Hilo, Hawaii) moved her home business into her own brick and mortar storefront (Driftwood Studio in N.J). Initially. Mrs. Steiner primarily sold decorative/functional household items (including lamps), items that she handcrafted from driftwood, collected from the Jersey shore. Ms. Steiner honed her skills, concentrating on lamps and on lamp shades in particular. For over two decades, Mrs. Steiner personally handcrafted each lamp shade sold in her NJ Studio. The Studio also sold new lamps and repaired and rewired lamps belonging to customers. The store closed in the 1990s.When you examine the amazing attention to quality and detail that went into the making of these shades, it's easy to see how the Hilo Steiner Studio garnered sufficient customer loyalty to support her business for over forty years, and why it drew in customers from all over the country.
