Back stamped "Adalbert Thibault Sculpteur St-Jean Port-Joli, P.Q." Length: 8 1/4" Width (measured at top) 4 1/2" Not an expert but think the material is white basswood. Adalbert Thibault (1918-1985) "Sculpteur sur bois" was a flat plane wood carver from Quebec. He created pieces from the 1950's - 1970's. Thibault specialized in carved birds and sculptures of traditional figures. The village of St. Jean Port Joli is one of Quebec's major wood carving and handicraft centers.
