Vintage Mid Century Green Drip Glaze Elephant Planter
1950s-60s ceramic elephant planter with a classic green drip glaze finish. Sculpted with great texture and a sweet facial expression. Perfect for succulents air plants or as a decorative accent on a shelf table or windowsill.
About This Piece
This planter is an authentic mid century design made in the 1950s–1960s. The green and turquoise drip glaze, molded foot shape, and unglazed brown clay bottom are all characteristic of mid century American studio pottery and Japan import ceramics from that era. Many pieces from this period were sold with felt covering the base exactly like this one which explains the absence of a maker mark. These planters were commonly produced using Duncan and Atlantic style molds or by Japanese ceramic factories making novelty animal figures for export.
