This is a reproduction relief wall plaque made in Greece, depicting the Stele of Igisso Proxenou, as seen in the Keramikos Archaeological Museum. The relief shows the noble woman Igisso seated on an armchair, receiving jewelry from her maid as a gesture of farewell, attributed to the 5th century B.C. The item is constructed from a composite resin or plaster material with a green-black aged patina finish to resemble ancient Greek stone.
Back label in both English and French gives museum information and subject history: 'Igisso Proxenou — One of the most beautiful reliefs of the Archeological Museum. A stele found in Keramicos representing noble woman Igisso, daughter of Proxenou, sitting on a fine armchair. She wears a rich dress in contrast with her maid which is holding the jewels of her mistress. Igisso is taking one with a sign of farewell. 5th cent. B.C.'
Stamped 'Made in Greece' on the back. The plaque measures approximately 9.75 inches tall by 6 inches wide. Comes ready to hang with leather attached.
Excellent collectible for anyone interested in Greek history, museum replicas, or neoclassical decor.
