Vintage Gold Stone Snuff Bottle with Bat Carving

The snuff bottle is made of gold stone which is really glass infused with metallic crystals, it can take a smooth polish and can be carved. The bottle shape is a flattened pear shape slightly tapered in the base to a raised oval foot with a flat bottom. The neck flares out at the top ending in a neck ring. The opening on the flat top is quite large in proportion to the size. It has a newer stopper - a tiger eye cap encased in brass with a brass spoon. A bat with outstretched wings is carved on both sides. Bat sounds the same as luck, it is an auspicious symbol for good luck. The bottle has an air of navievete about it. It is unsophisticated and probably made for the general public who used snuff and not for the gentry. It looks like it has some age.
