Vintage Hunter with Dachshund dog wood carving Germany. Weiner dog with stolen weiner? Fabulous example of a German wood carved painted hunter and dachshund dog. 1960s or earlier? Delightful expressive face on the hunter with details of rucksack, pipe and rifle, jacket with button details and cap. Dog features distressed eyes and tail downwards in shameful attitude with hot dog sausage in his mouth. No date or signature. German words across the front. On the bottom a suspected prior owner has apparently personally dated this carving as being received in 1965 giving some dating to consider its potential age. I have downsized with combining 2 households. Not enough display space to fully appreciate this carving, now sitting in a darkened library. In preowned vintage condition wood, carving details and paint colors as shown, some light evidence of aging might be noted. Please expect incidental evidence of age and use, such as light scratches, scuffs, dust, toning and fingerprints. Some evidence of glue pooling is noted at figures attachment points.
