GO is a game that originated in China nearly 3,000 years ago. It is the oldest board game played continuously throughout history. Compared to chess, the rules are simpler, but the gameplay is nonlinear and more complex, requiring both strategic thinking and intuition. Two players compete to capture territory on the wooden game board using stones of either black or white. This vintage game from 1976 was published by the Pacific Game Co. in 1976. It reflects the superior quality of vintage games, with no cheap plastic parts. The artwork on the box is striking and the game is complete with a mint condition wooden board, two velour pouches containing either 180 white stones or 181 black ones. The "stones" appear to be either glass or natural stone. They are polished and cool to the touch, making a pleasant "clacking" sound when they strike each other. The instruction booklet is included and is in excellent shape. The box top has areas of scuffing and a torn corner with a piece of clear tape still present. I did not want to risk damage by removing it. Please see all photos for reference. An ancient game with growing interest in the West, this is a fantastic game for anyone who enjoys games of strategy like chess, Ticket to Ride, Scythe or Cascadia.
