Vintage French Couture Maltese Cross Gilt Brooch w/ Red & Green Glass Faux Pearl

Gorgeous and unusual vintage French couture Maltese cross brooch with a central faux pearl, surrounded by green glass stones in gilt cage settings, with large pate de verre burgundy red cabochons serving as the arms of the cross. Though the overall aesthetic and design is extremely classic, some of the elements are relatively rare, so I’m not completely certain who it’s by - the central caging components are typically seen in Robert Goossens work. At first, I believed it was more likely by Roger Scemama nonetheless (a parurier best known for the pieces he created for Yves Saint Laurent and Christian Dior, but he also created jewelry for other French couture houses - Balenciaga, Chanel, and so on) because of the metal work on the back - but as soon as I posted this, someone very kindly reached out and shared photos with me of two of their own Goossens brooches that have the same construction, so I believe it is likely by Goossens as well. Some abrasion wear consistent with age and use. A little over 2.5 inches in width and length. Exceptionally lovely piece.
