Vintage French glass berry or grape cluster glass bead drop earrings with a clip on closure, circa approximately the 1930s. The glass beads are clear blown glass with an inner layer that gives them their blue color - it has a sheen to it that makes them appear slightly pearlescent or metallic. The beads are hand wired to the earring back, finished with fluted metal beads at the top, and dangle at the drop with a chain and head pin construction. The clip backs are marked Made France. I previously had these listed simply as vintage French earrings, and personally believed they might have been designed by Edouard Colonna - but recently I was researching a different piece of jewelry and came across some information that suggests these may be by Maison Gripoix, back when it was still named Maison Gasse in the 1930s (it was of course headed by the Gripoix family, but they changed the name of their company later). During that era Maison Gripoix produced some collections that made use of blown glass in addition to their more widely recognized lamp work and enamel, and one Womens Wear Daily Article from 1935 describes a collection as using components that appear almost like iridescent soap bubbles - after reading I took a closer look at these earrings and realized the metalwork on the backs is quite similar to that on the back of a late 1920s-1930s Chanel necklace I have listed separately that is by Maison Gripoix.
