Vintage Forget - Me - Not Brooch

This hand-painted porcelain brooch presents a sweet bouquet of tiny Blue Forget-Me-Not flowers - a gift for a friend? Someone more than that? This vintage piece surely has a few secrets to keep. The charming brooch is 1 1/2" across and is set in a lovely silver frame with pin back clasp on the reverse. The silver is not marked but has a warm burnished patina that sets off the delicate flowers. One of the most popular myths about forget-me-not’s name recounts that when God was creating the earth and he created all the flowers, he started to name each one of them. After God named all the flowers and was about to leave, one tiny little flower started to cry and said: “Forget me not, Lord!”.
