Vintage solid brass tavern bell mounted on a tall candlestick-style base with a two-tier platform. The bell rings clearly and the piece shows a natural matte patina from age. Sturdy construction with no dents or structural issues.
This style is based on 19th-century tavern and inn service bells, which were placed on counters, hotel desks, and public houses to signal attendants before electric buzzers were common. The elevated candlestick form made the bell easy to spot in busy rooms, while the wide base kept it stable on wooden bars. Designs like this remained popular into the early 20th century for use in general stores and private estates.
During the 1960s–1980s, brass reproductions were made as part of the Victorian and Americana revival movement. They were often used in home libraries, dens, and bars as both a functional bell and a decorative piece with historic character. This example reflects that mid-century era and still functions as intended.
Measures approximately 12 inches tall. The brass has purposely not been polished, leaving the option to buyer.
