Beautiful burgundy and black lacquerware set with intricate gold floral designs. Includes a tray, matchbox holder, ashtray with removable copper insert, and tobacco box.

Given as a gift circa world war II By J Akiyama Chief Superintendent Police Troop Commander Kanagawa Prefecture Japan. The business card will be inside the tobacco box.
The pieces are all in very good condition without chips or cracks. The presentation box shows some external and internal wear it appears to be a paper covered light wood and some of the paper is missing as well as a tear on the underside. The box measures approximately 14 3/4” x 9” x 2 1/2”. The lining does show age and some discoloration.
The tray matchbox holder ashtray and covered box are very pretty in a rich burgundy color with beautiful gold accents.
The box is marked with a label in the underside Hattori Wako.
