Vintage Early's Witney Point Wool Blanket

A rare find, 100% wool, made in England. Rarely will you find a genuine point blanket in this condition, it’s like it was put away in storage under ideal conditions the day it was purchased and left there until now. These blankets are a part of early North American history from long before the US was the US. Measures approx 76”& 92” big enough for a queen sized bed. Photos can’t begin to show how much thicker & heavier this blanket is compared to most wool blankets produced today. A collectors item with the type of quality that lasts for generations. Early’s Witney Point wool blankets have a long and rich history, they were often commissioned from England by the Hudson Bay Company in the late 1600’s & early 1700’s to be traded with native North Americans indigenous people’s who treasured them for both their insulating and water repellant qualities. The points (those black stripes) on each blanket often indicated its trading value. The four points on this one would have meant it was worth four beaver pelts back in those days. Obviously this blanket isn’t as old as that, but the company & quality has been there since then. This one is believed to have been manufactured & purchased new in the 1960’s and is in pristine condition.
